Although not the same driver, that's kind of the problem I'm having - It's not that ASTERISK is limited in the AAH release, it's just that they've given you tools to go 80% of the way without learning anything, and now I'm at a place that I want to use some of the cool scripts I've seen on this list, and/or to experiment with manually editing stuff myself, but I'm not sure what I can do without totally having the AAH stuff mess me up..
 
If I had to answer the original question, I'd say to start with AAH, start using it at home or in a test lab, and you WILL start to understand the files that need editing, and then maybe you'll be inclined to abandon the AAH when you're ready...

If AAH works, it's pretty cool. Personally I needed to do something
it couldn't do so I gave it up after a couple of weeks.  I could not
see how it could handle multiple companies in one box.
