[Asterisk-Users] Codec negotiation

If I have an incoming call which uses G.711u, which then gets
transferred to a phone which has G.729 selected as its first preference
(with 711 as a third).

Is it normal behaviour for asterisk to transcode the call to G.729
rather than keep it as 711?

Does anyone know if when T.38 support is complete, it can be treated as
if it were a codec, ie. can put allow=g729 allow=t38 in sip/iax.conf ?
