[Asterisk-Users] Server Brand

Digium has a list of servers to stay away from. They also say that other
than that, most newer servers should work ok. Just make sure that whatever
you get does NOT use the same chipset as those servers Digium says to stay
away from. This takes a bit of research. To make it easier I will give you
a summary of what I concluded from this.
http://www.digium.com/index.php?menu=compatibility
*Intel SE7525GP2 board uses E7525 chipset, Intel Pro 1000 (82541 controller)
ethernet, ATI Rage XL PCI Video
*Dell PowerEdge1600SC uses Intel ServerWorks HE-SL chipset, ATI RAGE XL
video, Intel Gigabit Ethernet
*Dell PowerEdgeSC420 uses Intel E7221 chipset, Broadcom 5751 ethernet
*Dell PowerEdge650 uses Intel ServerWorks GC-SL chipset, ATI Rage XL video
*Dell PowerEdge700 uses Intel E7210 chipset, ATI Rage XL video, Intel
Gigabit ethernet
*Dell PowerEdge750 uses Intel E7210 chipset, ATI Rage XL video, Dual Intel
Gigabit
The server Digium uses for the Asterisk Business Edition is the Dell
PowerEdge 2850 so I would say that any server board that uses that chipset
(Intel E7520) is a good bet.
My 2 cents

Subject: [Asterisk-Users] Server Brand
Hello, all I apologize for all these questions. But I have so many running
through my head for this. What brand of server is a good one to use for
running an asterisk box? I did an install the other day on a Compaq
Proliant ML370 G2 / Debian Sarge and it is currently working great. But
HP/Compaq costs bukooo bucks.
I have heard Super Micro is what alot of you are
using. Any problem running Debian on this? If I am
correct on this what makes this brand / their product so appealing? Just
price point? I would love to use a 1U server but for I need more that one
PCI port :) (at least three) for the TDM cards.
Any thoughts are always appreciated.
