Actually, today I have tried the patch provided by

as indicated on the Asterisk and UK Caller ID page 
[http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/Asterisk+and+UK+Caller+ID]

It works now !
My card is a X100P clone,  (Tiger3XX Modem/ISDN)

The relevant part of zapata.conf is now :

usecallerid=yes
cidsignalling=v23
cidstart=usehist
