Is that a typo? It should be /dev/zap/channel . Do you use udev? If so,
see README.udev . If not: you need to generate those device files.
Anyway: could you please post the output of:
lsmod | grep zaptel

ztcfg loads the configuration to the zaptel module from /etc/zaptel.conf
.
