[Asterisk-Users] cisco 7960 firmware

The 7.x firmware has two loads. You need to load the P00 load first,
then reboot and load the P0S load second. Cisco introduced an
application loader into the 7.x firmware.

Here's what I do:

1.) load version 5.3 - bin file
2.) load the 7.4 P00 load (application loader) - sbn file
3.) load the 7.4 P0S load (final upgrade) - sb2 file

If you just load the loader, the phone will reboot and may even
uninstall the imcomplete load. If you attempt to load the P0S without
the app loader, it will reboot and uninstall.

Good luck. -SG

I just did this upgrade today. I went from 3.<something> to 5.0. When
I
tried to go to 7.4, the phone would continually try to upgrade and then
reboot without finishing. I went to 6.3 without issues, but still
couldn't
go to 7.x (same symptoms).

I googled a note that mentioned the continual reboot issue, and said the

solution was to remove all of the comments and blank lines from
SIPDefaults.cnf. Once I did this, I could upgrade to 7.0 and then 7.4.
