There's a little chunk in the makefile that attempts to guess what your
current kernel is and selects the right target. I've never specifically
target 2.6 but I have made sure that the kernel headers on the system
as the exact kernel headers I compiled the kernel and I'm running that
kernel also. Has always worked for me...
