Any chance you could drop some product names for me to further research on the T1/channel bank solution? Preferably something I can get from a vendor in the Texas, USA  area -- or is this off-topic?

I think the easiest way to accomplish that would be through a channel  
bank which could rackmount as well, and interface via T1 to the  
computer, thus only one PCI card and room to grow to 24 channels, FXO  
and even FXS.
That or go with a 2U rackmount computer.
