Having spoken to coppice, I built spandsp-0.0.2pre6 on his suggestion.
He made a change that detects asterisk version and handles the "cid
structure member" difference.

However, no difference is seen in our receive results. Sending
software still says

Getting Station ID
Getting Parameters
Getting Station ID
Getting Parameters
.... etc ....

This same software sends to any fax machine I've tried (at least a
dozen) so I'm more than puzzled.
