That would break the SIP Subscribe standard quite a lot. SIP
subscriptions expire in the same way as registrations and do not
stay in memory forever.

The phone re-subscribes before expiration to prolong the subscription.
If they do not expire in your system, something is wrong and we need
a bug report in the bug tracker.

In the manager interface, you get the same status change messages as you
get in the SIP subscriptions for devices and extensions. The manager is
very different. You have all the data you need to write third party
scripts that react on status changes.

Regardless, if you have other good ideas please send them to the mailing
list. You will get much more attention if you change the attitude. If
you started this mail with "I would like to suggest a " instead of "You
know, there isn't even a" I would feel much more interested in what you
propose.
