Thanks for the pointer, and thanks to Nico at Siemens!
For future reference to procedure to recover from a "Can't Boot!!" situation
is:
1) Start the Siemens netbootserver
2) Configure the netbootserver with the FTP server where new software image
is located (must be in the FTP root directory) and have all 5 files present
3) Configure the MAC address and valid IP (one that can talk to the FTP
server without a router!) in the netbootserver
4) Connect LAN port 2 of the OptiPoint 600 Office to the LAN (or directly
with a crossover cable)
5) Reboot the phone and tap the screen to initiate the netboot process
6) Wait 5 - 10 minutes while the image and software loads (the screen keeps
you updated)
7) Reboot the phone. BINGO phone works again!
