You write out a dialplan, then when you match a pattern in the dial plan, the Polycom will initiate the call immediately.  This way you can have 4 digit internal extensions dial immediately, or have it wait for a long distance or international number.

What all phones does that apply to? I'm fairly certain it applies to the 
Polycom phones I've read about, but I'm not sure about others. I'm 
obviously a newbie to the field as well (well, at least to the physical 
phones).
