My understanding is that a codec is used for analog<->digital. Since both sides are Zap analog, it's not relevant.

Subject: [Asterisk-Users] Using zap channels for fax
I am sending faxes from a standalone fax and going through a TDM400 ( 2xFXS, 2xFXO ). I don't want to send over the internet, in fact the only reason I am going through the card at all is to capture the dialing for call accounting.
Everybody tells me to use G.711 but I don't see how you set the codec for a Zap channel. If it is Zap => Zap (Bridging?), is there a codec at all?
