[Asterisk-Users] Any success with BRI in the US?

Brian,
If you spoke to eicon, any idea if they have some pci cards laying
around? They seem impossible to find on resellers.
Server is great probably, but the price is too steep. Its almost easier
to use zaptel analogs tied into a normal isdn modem, except then there
are no features.
Regards,
Greg

Patrick, I looked into this for a client in MA a couple of weeks ago. I
called Eicon, and Adtran and did quite a bit of googling and emailing.
The only card that I had confidence in was the Eicon Diva Server Cards
at $922US for a single BRI. Eicon says this will work and others seem
to have it working. Junghanns told me in an email that their card would
work but they don't know of a driver that will work in the US.
The cheap alternative was to use an Adtran Express 3000 to convert to
POTS and then feed a Digium TDM card. The 3000 can be found pretty
cheap. This was a little to much of a kludge for me :-)
There are other products like the Patton SN1200 that provide a SIP or
H.323 to BRI gateway at about $700US. This looks like the best solution
but I didn't get very far. My client is going to stick with his ISDN
phones until he can replace his whole calling system.
email me off list if you'd like more info.
