It sounds like the 2.6 kernel is not a problem.
Anyone able to verify results on a 64-bit processor?
Also, we might temporarily try running it on Yellow Dog Linux (based on 
RHL9.0) on a PPC (Mac).  I don't know of any reason why this wouldn't 
work but success stories always help... :)
