[Asterisk-Users] Compiling on OSX 10.3.3

Hi,
Just thought I'd let you guys know about my time in compiling on
Panther.
Not being the world's greatest Makefile expert, and after applying the
patch suggested on this list (and modifying it so that the 7.2.0 was
replaced by a 7.3.0 - for the latest Darwin kernel) I still had issues
with my system requiring endian.h and byteswap.h .
Being ignorant of most things, after much trouble, I commented out
these lines and lo-and-behold, it compiled (mostly fine). I got errors
with the gethostbyname_r function during linking - but I found the
definition of this in the source for FreeBSD and commented out the
lines that prevented it from compiling.
It compiled fine, and works relatively well too. I find the audio a bit
choppy, but I think that has a lot to do with my system (I was running
on a PBG4 with other stuff happening at the same time) and perhaps my
SoftPhone (which wasn't working very well anyway).
So - maybe this will help someone else. I'm not sure why it didn't
work... but as I said before... I don't really understand the
intricacies of how all the definitions in the make file works...
For those who might be interested, the output of uname -a on my machine
is:
Darwin hostname.goes.here 7.3.0 Darwin Kernel Version 7.3.0: Fri Mar 5
14:22:55 PST 2004; root:xnu/xnu-517.3.15.obj~4/RELEASE_PPC Power
Macintosh powerpc
Yours,
Andrew
