After spending a lot of time saying numbers and dates, the Asterisk I18N project now targets
voicemail. The voicemail prompts are very much based on english language syntax, which works
for some languages and doesn't work for a lot of languages.
Fran Boon, aka Flavour, have done an excellent job in merging patches and building a community
of people that works with the I18N side of this. We have a patch to voicemail that adds a
number of language syntaxes:
en - English
de - German
es - Spanish
fr - French
nl - Dutch
pt - Portuguese
The patch also adds the language= option that sets the default language for the voicemail user.
This makes it possible to always have the voicemail menu in the language you want, even if
you're not calling on your own peer/user connection that sets the default language.
Please observe that these patches are not aimed at winning a coding award, we're just trying
to solve short-term problems for this relase. While doing this, we learn quite a lot of
where there are problems in coding voice messages for various languages. This will make it
possible to design a beautiful award-winning solution for a coming release of Asterisk.
The changes to saynumber and date/time functions are integrated in CVS HEAD. Test them.
Download this patch, test it and report your results on the bug tracker!
If you have questions, both me and Fran are available on e-mail or on the #asterisk-dev IRC channel.
Thank you for your support!
Have a nice international friday!
/Olle
