[Asterisk-Users] SIMPLE IM Support?

Just a simple question, wondering if Asterisk supports SIMPLE IM. If not 
is there a way to implement it without giving myself a headache (I'm 
still pretty new to Asterisk). Would it require me to setup a SIP proxy 
server to proxy to Asterisk and then SIMPLE IM goes through the proxy 
and doesn't hit Asterisk???

Help greatly appreciated.
