I think you might have got the wrong impression. It is actually equally
easy to implement using the astdb. Instead of learning how to get
asterisk to read the conf file, you just need to find the system calls
on how to read a variable from the astdb.
int ast_db_get(const char *family, const char *key, char *out, int
outlen);
looks like the only function that you would need...
