[Asterisk-Users] Inter-Tel Eclipse2 (IP PhonePlus)

Jason,
We've got the Axxess and we just have the IPC (8 channel) card with the IP PhonePlus keysets. You only need to have the IPC for this type of configuration. It works, but again, not as well as one would hope.
The SIP gateway is only required if you want to attach SIP endpoints to the IPRC (different from the IPC). The IPRC communicates to other devices using MGCP. The SIP gateway then acts as an intermediary between the IPRC and the SIP endpoints. While I have never tried this, I would imagine that you could use Asterisk as a replacement to the SIP gateway. In theory you could get the IPRC and have it talk to Asterisk over MGCP and then connect SIP clients to Asterisk. This whole setup for connecting gateways over MGCP is explained a little more clearly on the EDGE Extranet, however here's a link that has some general information regarding this setup:

Anyways either way, it’s a lot of money to shell out. Dump the Inter-tel, go Asterisk. :-)

ken-
it is worse than you think.
you have to have an IPRC(16 channels only) card in the Axxess cabinet with
current Call Processing software and then an additional server running
Inter-Tel's SIP gateway server (MS windows based just like their Call
Processing Server). And yes it is quite expensive.
You do also get some additional software that is pretty cool but not for the
cost and nothing that a sharp coder couldn't bang out with a bit of effort.
