Hi-
I've been on the development team writing calling card platforms in
different languages - it's really up to you to choose the combo that you
prefer.
I like MySQL myself, and found it to be quite stable, but I think you'll
find that others on this list prefer other DB's. Anything you use should
work fine with Perl or PHP.
Please read through the archives as this topic has been discussed a number
of times.

Regarding the calling card system, I would like to know what software tools
are suitable to write the CDR system?
