bkw,
I realised that I was running asterisk with just asterisk no cli options
changed it to safe_asterisk any my problem went away, so it might just be that it doesn't want to work in asterisk, just safe_asterisk
when I some free time I'll get a coredump since there are no real informative debug traces.
