Turns out I misunderstood. The fix is not yet in CVS. But you can get a
patch from http://bugs.digium.com/bug_view_page.php?bug_id=0003113

It doesn't exactly apply cleanly to CVS-HEAD but with some fairly
obvious
massaging IT WORKS!
