It's in line 1 but I also tried line 2 just for kicks but same
problem...

I just got mine too... It's an impressive phone.

Mine doesn't do this, the only thing I can think of is it's only an
one-line phone, make sure you don't plug a phone line in the jack
numbered '2', it's for daisy-chaining an fax machine..
