I've tried to list various files and applications in Asterisk that includes passwords.

If you know any other file or application with passwords, add to the Wikipage or mail me
offlist so I can update.

Sometime in the future, it would be beneficial to structure this and
have one common authentication structure which is modular, so one could use
text files, the Asterisk database, sql db of choice or even LDAP.

A start for those architects is to document the current situation. To
sort it up is a long term project.
