I'm not sure why, but I apparently missed a post around Oct 27 that 
related to a "fix" for the echo problem on x100p's (at least). I'd guess
the post didn't appear on the Users list, but if you search the
archives for "echotraining" you'll find the posting:

that briefly mentions the patch.

I updated my entire distro from the Nov 11th cvs, and the echo problem
has been 99% fixed. Echo still occurs, but it's far better now.
