Lots of papers and specific instructions have been documented and published
at many sites throughout the Internet. For starters, check:
 www.cisecurity.com
 www.sans.org
or, google for another 500,000 more.

The cisecurity.com site includes specific how-to instructions that even
a non-technical manager might be able follow, and the writers are
mostly vendor independent (very little marketing BS, OS religion, etc).
