But to address the main question: Mark has at least said twice in the 
past that he was interested in pursing an RFC track on IAX, but he 
was questioning the saturation of the "market" for voice protocols, 
and the reception of Yet Another Voice Protocol in the 
already-crowded arena.  I think if you (Olaf) can provide examples of 
where developers in other projects are interested in implementing 
IAX, that may encourage Mark (and others) to begin working on a RFC. 
I am working with no special knowledge, but I strongly suspect that 
the volume of work in simply keeping up with daily Digium/Asterisk 
tasks coupled with no burning requirement for an RFC has kept this 
project from becoming realized.
