Hi TC,
I was stating my opinion which is why I didn't provide any examples. If
you need examples here you go. I have to administer equipment remotely.
Since these devices have no network interface this is not possible. I am
forced to use a handset and key sequences whenever I need to reprogram the
device. Further to that, as they are analog devices I don't get any cause
codes so again, if I have problems I cannot troubleshoot remotely I need to
be next to the device with a handset, or I need to constantly call hoping to
be able to reproduce the problem. Along the same lines as the last comment,
since they are analog the PDD can be longer than normal. Lastly, there is
no feedback from the device with regard to network signal or network issues
outside of a handful of LEDs on the front of the box. This too makes
troubleshooting, or at least avoiding, problems more difficult.
As far as recommendations, it really depends upon your application. Do
you need a digital interface? Do you need remote management? Do you need
routing capabilities? Do you need to hold multiple SIMS per channel?
