Also, as stated by him, his E1 is connect to the TELCO, not to a legacy pbx.

I was wondering, and you guys might shed on light on it, does it
matter having asterisk 1.4.22 with chan_dahdi without dahdi? As far as
I can tell, he's using zaptel to talk to the hardware. I'm not
familiar with 1.4 at all, specially when it comes to changing
zaptel/chan_zap to dahdi/chan_dahdi.
