There are plenty of people on this list that may not know about skinny, but could provide valuable information about other parts of asterisk, and how to best integrate new features to best fit into the Asterisk architecture.

<div>Russell, would Digium be willing to let us develop features above and beyond what can be done with SIP, as Damien pointed out? </div>

<div>Scot, if there are major architectural changes that need to be done, maybe now is a good time to make those changes. We seem to be at a standstill anyway as far as how to proceed. While I don't usually like having to throw away everything and start over, sometimes that's the best course of action. In the end, will it save time and allow us to have the features we want? I would guess that a lot more is known about the Skinny protocol than was known at the beginning of development of either chan_sccp or chan_skinny.

<div>Personally, I think the combination of Asterisk and a full implementation of the Skinny protocol is an unbeatable combination.</div>
