Maybe I don't have enough phones on hand, I would have thought 4 sip phones and 2 DAHDI would be enough..
But ringing multiple sip phones with dial(sip/phone1&sip/phone2) and attempting pickup from the other 2 up with *8, I'm unable to get a deadlock, with 1.8r321211 or trunk.
I do have pickupsounds enabled. if that matters.
But I may not be doing it exactly the same way, that you are able.
