[asterisk-dev] Hi all, is struct ast_frame encoded by any codec?

Hi all, my application use sip to connect to asterisk, and my speech data
use rtp as the transmit
format. Now I am looking asterisk app mixmonitor, it read struct ast_frame
from both the read and write
side and then write to a sound file.
My question is if struct ast_frame encoded by any codec or it just the one
my application send out wrapped
with rtp?
