[Asterisk-Dev] Asterisk or Polycom Bug? - Message waiting

Well now that I've read the RFC it's not even clear that this is
a bug, vs a deficiency in the RFC.

(I found the RFC here: ftp://ftp.rfc-editor.org/in-notes/rfc3842.txt
don't know if that's a reliable source).

As as test I patched the asterisk source to send

Messages-Waiting: yes

if there were either old or new messages. The net result
is that the message counts in the phones are now always correct.

The bad news it that the light remains lit even if there are no
new messages (as I pretty much expected). So, it appears that if
the polycom gets a message-summary with "Messages-Waiting: no"
then it ignores the rest of the message and sets all of the counts
to zero. Reading the RFC I can see how this might be considered
the correct behavior.

If anyone has the necessary contact with Polycom to report this
to them it might be worthwhile, (now that asterisk is sort-of
supported).

PS: I did upgrade one phone to 1.5.3 and got the same results as
1.4.1. I don't find any mention of this in the Polycom release
notes for 1.6.x so I didn't bother to try 1.6.
