The documentation sucks rather badly, as soon as you search it for 
anything more than a trivial issue. Why do many developers complain so 
bitterly about the amout of time they spend fighting with these tools? 
Partly it is their inflexibility. Partly it is because the documentation 
is so bad.

Autoconf used to be stable, but recent versions seem that loosing that 
good quality. Most throw up pages of "report this to the autoconf 
developers" notices, too.
