For those of you that have been suffering kernel panic with Asterisk.
Please look at this resolution in bugs.digium.com

We had been suffering of this kernel panic since a year. If you do had
kernel panic from time to time (especially under load stress), this will
probably solve your problem. 

After the fix, we have run 24 hours of load testing with averaging 200
calls/minutes and the box was still up after this load test.

The bug was in zaptel.c when resetting a variable to NULL that was not
protected (curnote) by a mutex.

Hopefully, if you had kernel panic this will solve your problem as it
solves ours.
