That's still on my agenda to work on during this development cycle, 
although it needs to be able to push the bridge down into 'native' mode 
when possible and other things, so that it becomes zero-cost for the 
normal case but flexible enough to handle the non-normal cases.

I'd love to spend some time with you working on this... we need to find 
a time we can get together and make it happen. Email me off-list if 
you're interested in doing that.
