a) this is a -users question, wrong mailing list

b) that depends on what codec you're going to be using ... if its mostly 
tdm then 8khz/8bit ... if its mostly gsm, then gsm ... etc ... if its a 
mixture, then best keep it in .wav format, you can use "show translation" 
to figure out what the inter-codec weight is and thus what you expect for 
your particular deployment
