[Asterisk-Dev] simple cvs question

Is it safe in general, and specifically in relation to asterisk, to "cvs 
checkout asterisk" and just "cvs update" every once in a while to get an 
updated copy, or should I blow away the folder and pull a new checkout 
each time?

I can copy to a new folder so that I won't be building asterisk from the 
checked out folder if that matters.
