[Asterisk-Dev] HylaFAX and spandsp

I'm not a huge fax user, but from what I understand we need an app/daemon
that can emulate a device like "/dev/modem" - this way ANY fax SOFTWARE
(HylaFax , mgetty, etc...) can work, even better, we can answer fax and
data. What I propose it's a way to external applications see a modem throw a
device. How to dial ? simple open the device "/dev/modem" send the command
"ATD1234" and it's done, * search for a line and dial, or return busy. Maybe
it's better implemented as a kernel driver ( a new soft-modem ? ).
Sorry for my poor english and my silly ideas.
