Jeremy,

Good advice but if one were to follow it, it leads to a situation
where you have to tell the owner of a SIP client "I can't help
you".

My conclusion was that if you do decide to suport external SIP
clients over an Internet connection you need to put a SIP server
_outside_ of your NAT'd firewall on a public, IP address.  I think
practically this means you have two servers, one for WAN clients
and one for internal clients.
