Patch Set 1:

When I think more about I wonder why call change topology in the first place? Before this patch the call to change made them exactly the same, but now the topologies differ (similar to the state they were in before the call, albeit they are now loosely aligned). A mapping still has to take place, so why not just leave as is and not call change topology at all?
