In other words, there really aren't going to be any Asterisk jobs per
se, as such except in companies that are Asterisk shops to begin with,
be they VoIP service companies or consumers of VoIP services. At least,
right now.

In the latter situation, what is needed is someone who has network
engineering and integration expertise more than anything else - someone
that, if they know Asterisk and want to use it, is equipped to deliver
Asterisk as a VoIP implementation more or less end-to-end, with all the
things that go into that in an enterprise environment - network design,
QoS, interoperation, protocol analysis, etc. Knowledge of Asterisk in
and of itself, hermetically, is somewhat useless.
