Marketing I think. They wanted the three models to have different
features, give customers more reasons to choose.

Actually Polycom did a good job giving the phones different sound quality.
We tested the three models next to each other, and the quality improved
noticably with each model. I think the 7960 gets pretty close to a 500, but
the 600 is really in another class.
