[Asterisk-biz] Double standards with netfone.ca.

I wonder if Vonage or AT & T will also have the double standard? I guess as
long as the cost is based on usage, there have to be a control on usage, no
matter how you call it otherwise the "dishonest "guys will take advantage.

Even at this moment, you might want to install an Asterisk for your mom's
personal use, but if it is not so inconvenient for you to add your aunt, and
later your uncle and even anyone you know, and NO cost to you, I am afraid
many of us will become "dishonest".

Just like many years ago, I went to Las Vegas show and I need to bring many
computers and monitors which cost me 1/3 to 1/2 just for the transportation.
And then I find a smart guy get the equipments (latest model) from the local
shops and after the show, he returned them to the shop and to get his
refund.

Someone must stop the no question asked in LV shops and can you claim this a
double standard?

Not that I see. http://www.netfone.ca has no mention of PBX or Asterisk in
their home plan or terms of service.

I disagree about what hardware/software you use. That's not their concern
unless it's a support issue. If they want to limit minutes or concurrent
calls out they can do so at their end. Besides, it's a futile thing to try
to attempt to do anyways. Back to my past comment - it's like the old ISPs
trying to limit you to one PC per internet connection.

The terms of service *say that*. Got asterisk? No unlimited for you.
Broadvoice does that. There are very few companies that *don't* do that -
and they are setting themselves up for abuse by dishonest users.

But you can't charge for 'overuse' or 'support' when your main business
model is to provide 'unlimited residential service'. You have two classes
of users: ones that fit your business model (grandma with an ATA) and ones
that don't (asterisk noob). It is perfectly fine to discriminate against
ones that are far more likely to abuse your service.
