Looks like you snatched up either the programmers for flash-panel and
asterisk-stat. Both very nice programs
Nice work on the GUI configuration too as well.
As for the whole quality isn't there yet thing. Well, you really need to
qualify the statement.
I will definitely agree with you if you say it this way. Using packetized
voice over a bandwidth limited uncontrolled network with no performance
guarantee will definitely result in quality and reliability that is sub par
to the phone service that most citizens of the technologically advanced
western countries are used to. On the other hand VoIP (meaning Voice over
IP) can provide sound quality that is on par with the best sound quality
available in a circuit switched environment and for a tenth the price.
Every single good quality circuit switched installation is engineered, so
why compare a Vonage style VoIP performance to an engineered circuit
switched service? You can't do what Vonage is doing with a Circuit
switched system, so you can't really compare.
That being said, VoIP on a locally controlled network, connected to the
PSTN is definately the way to go. You leverage the advantages of both
systems and save quite a bit of money compared to legacy designs.
And don't forget about those countries where the phone service isn't
engineered at all. I think you might find that the quality of a VoIP
circuit to those locations far exceeds the quality of the local phone
company there.
