Yeah.  I'm pretty sure he's right.  You can route calls from analog to
VoIP with Asterisk.  I don't think it's possible with a 56k modem.
That's for a different purpose.  You can do that with the right hardware
(FXO card mentioned above).  You will need that hardware though as a
modem won't cut it.

You were thinking of answering an analog line with a modem, right?  To
transfer to SIP/IAX?  That'won't work :-)
