Hi Emmanuel BUU,

I'm trying to integrate an implementation of the MPEG4 Part2/ H.264 codec
into Asterisk.

After research I've come to think that the way to do this would be to write
a new module (based on the source code for the

codec) that would communicate with Asterisk's core using the Codec
Translator API. I don't know how to do that in detail. Pls help me.

One problem, I've encountered is that I haven't found any document with the
Codec Translator API's specification. Could you point me to this
specification ?.

Follow your direction, I've searched and took a look at
http://sip.fontventa.com, Yes. That'is a part of my need.

Could you show me some references similarly?

Thanks so much

Hung Nguyen

Hi Emmanuel BUU,

Thanks you so much for your prompt response.

I need solution for transcoding through with MPEG4 Visual/H.264.

Ok, I guess that you are looking to have real time transcoding ? Can you
tell us a bit more about your exact needs ?

If you intend to use Asterisk for this, the best starting point is to get
the app_transcode module from Sergio and customize it to transcode the way
you want. Sergio also has a media mixer module capable of doing this outside
asterisk You have to know that:

1.	Using and transcoding from to MPEG4 part 2 / MPEG4 part 10 is
submitted to licencing so if you intend to put your solution in production,
you have to pay the fee to the MPEG Licencing Authority
2.	Doing such operation in real time is very costly in term of CPU.
Meaning that the number simultaneous of transcoding will be limited.

Could you show me what steps, solution, web link, similar project,....

Thanks in advance,

Hung Nguyen

Depends what is the level of support that you expect.

I have a simple patch to enable passthrough support of MPEG4 ES and astersik
1.4.x has already H.264 support. No transcoding through.
