[Asterisk-video] Monitoring video calls

Hello,

I'm planing to extend monitoring functionality to record video streams too.
So i looking for the advice.

First of all is there sombody who is already doing it?

Second, i see  several  possible ways to doing it
1) extend  app_monitor  to record video streams too
2) extend app_mixmonitor to record video streams and mixed audio stream

These could be augmented by a shell script launching sox and some video 
mixer too (maybe even on different machine)

It seems that in both cases i'll need to augment chan_spy infrastructure 
to capture video frames

Is it feasible or i'm completely off the track?
