Is there a reason to use SIP? There is a really good SCCP module for asterisk (<a href="http://sourceforge.net/projects/chan-sccp-b/">chan-sccp-b</a>). Usually you have to set in the SEP<MAC ADDRESS>.cnf.xml what firmware file to download, if it then finds the firmware file on the TFTP server it will upload and install the new firmware. This process can be difference depending on which Cisco phone you are using.
